Antacids

The active ingredient in Tums is Calcium Carbonate which has the chemical formula – CaCO3
In class we discussed how this insoluble liquid reacts with water to form a carbonate, then a bicarbonate, a carbonic acid, and finally a carbon dioxide gas.
From our experiments, it was determined that one Tums is needed to neutralize a can of coke.
