Dissolving

When water is dissolving salt, it carries away each of atoms within the molecule.
The freezing point is lowered when salt is added to water because it takes a lower temperature to get the molecules to slow down and compress... the other ions (from the dissolved salt) get in the way from the water molecules easily connecting and forming a solid. The lower temperature can overcome this.
